Singing is good for you

Through the last few years Swindon Male Voice Choir numbers have reduced with age and health taking its toll on members.

So we are looking to encourage new voices to come and join us.

Singing in a choir such as ours has many benefits to health and wellbeing. Making new Friends, developing your singing voice to share the enjoyment of singing in a choir, sharing harmonies across the four male voice vocal parts and making a powerful and yet very enjoyable choral sound.

Making music exercises the brain as well as the body. Noted for positive effect on breathing, posture, reduces stress and gives a generally improved physical feeling. The only way to know is to give it a try!

On Monday 15th May Swindon MVC have a Taster Night rehearsal session from 7.30pm.

We invite men to come to our rehearsal and find out just what makes the choir the success it is, and the fun that can be found singing with a choir.

The Taster Night will be at the church hall of St John’s Church, Whitbourne Avenue, Swindon SN3 2LG. Call in on the night, you will be welcome.

Safety in EU laws

In a major twist of events, it has just been announced that the Government has scrapped its plans to replace all EU laws by the end of 2023.

RoSPA has been at the fore of campaigning against the Bill’s process

Since its inception, the REUL Bill has been shrouded in confusion and mystery, and has left business owners and the public in limbo.

We therefore welcome the Government’s announcement that it intends to make it clear which laws it intends to remove from the statue book.

As the UK’s leading safety charity, the health and safety of the nation has always been and will always be our top priority, and it is down to working with other health and safety stakeholders and staying true to our mission that has helped catalyse this major change in Government tack.

We intend to scrutinise the Government’s amendment carefully to ensure that no lifesaving legislation is repealed, and that any future changes are made only when due consultation and a proper parliamentary process has taken place.
