Swindon Town: Michael Flynn said Morecambe clash is big test

The Shrimps sit 16th in the League Two table, but are unbeaten at home, winning three of their four matches at the Mazuma Stadium, with impressive wins against Salford City, Bradford City, and Walsall.

Flynn said that he is expecting Swindon to have to work very hard to come back from Lancashire with all three points.

He said: “Tough. It is a very tough place to go, even if you take the journey out of it.

“They have only conceded eight in the league, and they are unbeaten at home in the league, so it is going to be a tough game.

“It always is tough up at Morecambe, so we will have to be on our mettle to get what we want out of the game.

“They have decent players up there and the way they have started, they are going to be a tough nut to crack.

“I am expecting nothing other than a very tough game.

“From our perspective [we are settled tactically], but each game is a new challenge.

“You see the way Walsall came and had a mid- to low-block and didn’t press from the front, whereas Sutton had different triggers of who had the ball determining who went for to try and press.

“Every team are going to be different in how they try and handle us and how we handle them, so it is quite cat and mouse.”

Morecambe’s four-goal top goal scorer Michael Mellon will not be available for the game through suspension but Flynn said that the mystery of who will replace him has not posed an additional challenge.

He said: “[Mellon] has done very well for them so far, but him not being available hasn’t changed how we prepare, I just focus on what we do.

“When we see their team we will have a look, but we know their style of play, so whether it is Michael Mellon or somebody else it will be quite similar because the majority of the team will be similar.

“I think [Farrend] Rawson will be back, as well, who is a big presence for them.

“We just have to concentrate on what we can do and how we can hurt them, and hopefully that gets us three points.”
