Michael Flynn said he might have to wait until January to add to his squad as he continues to wait for the right players.

Swindon Town have been pursuing free agents after the close of the summer transfer window as they look to add further depth to a squad currently challenging at the top of League Two.

Flynn revealed last week that he had agreed a deal with a player only for it to fall apart at the last minute and he has maintained that he will continue to wait for the right player to be available to him.

However, speaking ahead of Town’s trip to Morecambe this weekend, Flynn said that he was not far down the road with any players at present and conceded he may have to wait until the January window opens to bolster his options.

He said: “There is nothing at the minute with regards to transfers. I will try and say when I am close [to signing a player], which I have done and it has not always come off, but I haven’t got any further this week.

“We will wait, but the right one might not be available until January. It is something that we will keep looking at.

“I think we will continue to address it on a weekly basis. This has nothing to do with the fact we are doing well, we know we still need to add to the squad.

“The one I thought that I had was somebody that I thought would add to us, but I am not rushing into just bringing in anybody."

It was also revealed that two unnamed players have been training with the first team squad this week as Flynn assesses the options that are available to him.

Unknown players had been spotted in a video on the Life of a Kitman TikTok account, run by Steve Hooper and Jonah Issacs, and Flynn has confirmed that he had been taking a look at some free agent players in training this week.

He said: “We have had a couple training with us, so we have had a good look at them and one or two have done well.

“We haven’t made offers to those players, we have not got that far yet, they are just players who have been with us.

“They are players with good pedigree for their age, so we will see what happens there.”
