MARTIN Lloyd is confident his team can get a result this weekend as they return to league action against Tadley.

Lloyd’s Swindon College Old Boys go into the game fresh out of a Dorset and Wilts Cup win over Corsham.

The College chief says that his team will have to be on the front foot if they are to run out winners in Berkshire on Saturday.

They also face a bit of change in personnel ahead of the fixture, with Tucker Blinkhorn (ribs), Nick Tuckett (knee), Matt Allen, Stuart Knight and Mark Edmonds all unavailable.

However they will be boosted by the return of Michael Bizley, Liam Davies and Joe Smedley, who are all in contention for the tie.

“We have a couple of players out but we have some coming back. We are quite strong with our forwards,” said the Old Boys coach.

“It’s going to be a bit of a struggle at the back but we are very strong at the front, so I’m confident of a result."

With regards to Tadley, Lloyd should know what to expect as he, along with fellow coach Mark Lea, went to watch them against Abingdon.

Tadley narrowly edged that game as it ended 11-10 to the hosts, giving Old Boys duo Lloyd and Lea plenty to think about.

“Mark Lea and myself went down and had a look at Tadley play Abingdon. It was a really tight game and we beat Abingdon quite comfortably last weekend,” added Lloyd.

“They seemed to cancel each other out, Tadley have a very good centre, so they look to play through him, but they do like to run the ball.”
