A new cafe is opening in Swindon inside an unusual location.

Following construction work at Beechcroft Library, Stratton St Margaret Parish Council has announced that a new business called Brew Book will be taking up residence at the community facility.

The Beechcroft Road venture is spearheaded by Hannah Fruen, 35, and will be having its grand opening on March 30.

Hannah's idea was the parish council's chosen pitch for the coffee space in the local library and she explained how it came about.

"We found out about the tender for the cafe from being tagged numerous times by customers, friends and like-minded businesses.

"From that, we put together our plan of Brew Book, a separate entity making it become ‘The cafe for the community’.

"Not only will we be selling and serving delicious food and drink, we will be doing it at affordable prices.

"We will be showcasing local businesses within the cafe and holding small events, including dessert nights, dry clay-making evenings, paint parties. There will be something for everyone.

"We will also be having Pete’s micro bakery providing us with delicious sourdough to sell to our customers, Connie Lou’s florist providing and selling fresh flowers twice a month plus many more local businesses supplying items of deliciousness."

"The grand opening will be taking place between 10am and 4pm on Saturday and there will be a 'special guest as well as lots of Easter treats."

After this, Brew Book will be open with a full menu from Tuesday, April 2 from 9am.

"Thank you to all that have shown so much support already and contacted us with congratulations and love, it is very much appreciated," Hannah added.

"Can’t wait to see you all soon."

Hannah met with representatives of Stratton St Margaret Parish Council where the keys to the new cafe were handed over to her.

A spokesperson for the council said: "With the construction work coming to an end at Beechcroft Library, we are proud to present our new cafe space to Brew Book.

"Hannah from Brew Book was successful in the tender process to become the operator of this fabulous new café."

"Come and join us for their opening and grab yourself a relaxing drink or delicious sweet treat this Easter weekend…We can’t wait to see you all there!"
