CHILDREN from the Townsend Barn Nursery in Poulshot have offered a helping hand to those in need by making a harvest donation to the Devizes foodbank.

After collecting four big bags of food donations, the nursery visited St Peter’s Church in Poulshot to hand over their impressive haul on Tuesday (September 27). The nursery collections donations every year to give to the Devizes foodbank to help those who find themselves in need.

Sarah Wheeler, nursery manager, said: “We went to make the donation at St Peter’s with the children, it went very well and they were very happy with the four bags we gave them. We do this every year as part of the harvest celebrations. We always work with the church, as part of a small community we all work together and help each other.

“The harvest celebration is an important time of year and the children are taught all about it as well as the people the donations will benefit. Joyce Arnold from St Peter’s always sends a representative down to collect the donations.”

Alan Beamish, co-ordinator of the Devizes foodbank in Long Street, has shown his gratitude towards the schools who collect food to send to the foodbank.

“We are grateful for all the schools, it improves every year. We have schools in the Devizes and Kennet areas that do it regularly, we feel very appreciative of all the work the teachers, parents and children do,” Mr Beamish said.
