WILTSHIRE Police continue to search for Swindon missing teenager Jack Parfitt, who had been found on Monday, July 6, before choosing to run away again.

Officers had located the 13-year-old and left him in the care of a social worker on Monday afternoon, and had drawn a line under the case.

But the social worker, who has no powers to detain Jack in any way, was unable to stop him from tearing off as they walked together outside.

Det Insp Mark Luffman said: “Social workers have no power to physically detain anyone in their presence and so they are between a rock and a hard place.

“It was moving from one building to another.

“At some point we have got to walk away. We can’t remain with the social worker and Jack for the whole time.

“They were moving between buildings and he took his moment to choose to go again.”

Two officers are out searching for Jack around the clock, as they conduct house-to-house enquiries.

While the police are concerned for the teenager’s welfare, and are anxious to see him back to his Gloucester home safely, they are confident he is not at risk of harm.

They have again appealed for any information on his whereabouts.

Those with any knowledge of his location should call the police on the non-emergency number 101.
